Fashion Trend (FATREND) Teaches basic skills in spotting and forecasting trends. It will tackle the history of trends and social factors that affect it. Fashion Product (FASPROD) Introduces concepts and methods by which retailers create special store-branded merchandise for targeted customer segments. This includes the process of product development, from research to production to distribution. Fashion Entrepreneur (FENTREP) This course serves to guide the fashion entrepreneur in starting and running a fashion related business. Fashion Styling (FASTYLE) Introduces students into the world of fashion styling. It teaches students how to communicate and sell an idea by the play between clothing, make-up, lighting, etc. These skills they find useful when applied to editorial and fashion show styling. Visual merchandising which plays a vital role in retail will also be discussed. Portfolio Development (PORTDEV) A course that will guide the students in creating their own portfolio that will showcase their creativity, styles, skills and strengths. This class will also provide mentoring for the student’s collection that they shall launch and execute in a fashion show. Fashion Merchandising (FAMERCH) This course is focused on all the activities in the merchandising cycle, required to have the right fashion merchandise available in the proper quantities and place, at the right time, price and quality to meet customer satisfaction at a profit. Fashion Merchandising Math (FAMMATH) This course focuses on developing a working knowledge of fashion merchandising math and its application to day-to-day retail business. Such knowledge is the foundation to making good decisions that is critical to the success of the fashion business. Fashion Retailing (FRETAIL) This course focuses on teaching students how fashion retailing businesses are run in a systematic and efficient manner in order to ensure their success. Fashion Marketing (FAMKTNG) This course aims to provide students with an understanding and appreciation of the importance and core concepts of marketing. It will provide students with actual examples of how marketing is applied in the fashion business. Fashion Buying (FBUYING) Introduces basic concepts, principles, and techniques used by retail buyers as they complete their day-to-day duties and responsibilities. A step-by-step approach is presented for buying tasks that give participants the opportunity to develop buying skills with a marketing orientation. Fashion Promotion (FAPROMO) Gives an overview of the world of fashion through examining external and internal promotional activities of fashion companies including public relations, fashion styling, fashion shows, advertising, visual merchandising and the fashion media. Apparel Production (APRODUC) A course that discusses the general process in apparel production. It will go through in detail the production flow process in a garment factory set-up. Computer Aided Design 1 (CAD001) CAD Application course that will teach basics of Adobe Photoshop and its various application in fashion. Computer Aided Design 2 (CAD002) CAD course that will include lessons on using the Adobe Illustrator and Coral Draw as applied in fashion. Fasion Marketing Final Project (FPROJECT) A course that will prepare students in their culminating activity for marketing wherein they will showcase their concepts, strategies, and skills learned. This course will help students prepare a mock set-up for a new concept for a fashion enterprise that shall be evaluated by a panel of credible practitioners in the industry. Fashion and the Arts (FASHART) An art application class that would stimulate and help students develop creativity. This class will discuss various art forms and styles and will also provide an overview of fashion history. Fashion Textile (FASTEXT) Gives an understanding of construction and properties of different textiles. It also teaches the use of textiles in contemporary fashion. Involves lectures, demonstrations, practical work and fieldtrips. Pattern Making 001 (PATERM1) A beginner’s class introducing industry procedures of pattern making. Students will learn to develop basic blocks such a bodice, skirt, sleeves, dress and pants. Pattern Making 002 (PATERM2) An intermediate pattern making class that will introduce additional pattern techniques such as dart manipulations, adding fullness and sculpturing. Pattern Making 003 (PATERM3) Advanced pattern making class that will make comprehensive use of the skills acquired in previous pattern classes. Students will learn how to interpret their designs and transfer their ideas into first patterns. Fashion Illustration 1 (FILLUS1) A beginner’s class that teaches students how to draw the basic nine head fashion figures in different poses. This class will also provide techniques in sketching the face based on proportions. Fashion Illustration 2 (FILLUS2) An intermediate sketching class that focuses on sketching garment details on the fashion figure. Students will also learn the use of more mediums such as watercolors and markers. Fashion Illustration 3 (FILLUS3) Advanced sketching class that will work on students’ ability to render their own style of drawing and presentation. This class also prepares students to prepare for their portfolio of sketches. Clothing Construction 1 (CLOTHC1) This course allows the students to get acquainted with the sewing machine threading, machine control exercises, edging and using the industrial iron and teaches them basic exercises on zippers, darts, seams and waistband and hand hemming. Final project will be a basic skirt. Clothing Construction 2 (CLOTHC2) Intermediate class that teaches students more challenging sewing techniques like facings, interfacings, bias treatments, collars, additional zipper application and buttons. Final project will be a bodice with collar. Basic Draping (BDRAPING) This course will teach students the step-by-step process of using three dimensional technique of draping in creating basic patterns and variations of it on muslin. Advanced Draping (ADRAPING) A course that will use the techniques learned in basic draping into developing more challenging designs and details. It will give the students an opportunity to create styles of garments that will combine aesthetiscm and balance. Fashion Store Management (FASTOMA) A course that describes the relationship between store operations and the retailer’s strategic plan. It defines responsibilities and tasks performed by a retailer to properly manage the store so as to give customers a wonderful shopping experience. Fashion Brand Management (FASBMGT) Teaches students strategic management skills used in fashion companies today. Students will research trends and markets, plan and manage a design and marketing project involving repositioning an existing product range or developing new product range for a specific market.
